“Freezing For A Good Cause”

Flat Top., WV (WOAY) – With the temperatures at a meer 40 degrees the Winterplace Polar Plunge still had a decent turn out.

Cold temperatures and cold water may not be the best combination but, that didn’t stop these people from jumping into the below freezing water.

One of the Polar Plungers Thomas Nutter adds, ” It felt OK for a little bit in the water but, once we got out I felt better”

Tickets for the Polar Plunge were $50. The best part of it all the jumpers were “freezing-for a reason”. The money raised will be donated to the Special Olympics of WV.

One of the plunger told Newswatch his reason for wanting to participate in the plunge.

“I wanted to do it because I am apart of the Special Olympics in Fayette County, and have been for over 20 years and our coach sponsored us” Steven Bragg adds.

During the plunge Winterplace presented a $1,000 check to the Special Olympics.

Some jumpers did need a little encouragement in order to make the jump but the crowd rallied in support of them. After the event ended all participants ran into the building to warm back up.
