Four Fires Break Out In Mercer County Tuesday Evening

MERCER COUNTY (WOAY) – Emergency Crews were very busy Tuesday evening putting out four different fires.

Dispatchers tell WOAY that two structure fires, a logging truck fire, and brush fire have been reported.

1) Matoaka – Crews battled a house fire on Giotto Road in Matoaka at 6:30 pm. Matoaka, East River, Bluestone and Princeton Rescue all responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.

2) Red Sulphur Turnpike – Crews responded to a second house fire on the Red Sulphur Turnpike at 6:48 pm. Oakvale, East River, Athens, and Summers Fire Department responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.

3) Bluestone Travel Plaza- A logging truck caught on fire at Bluestone Travel Plaza after 7 pm. Bluestone and East River Fire responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.

4) A fourth fire occurred that involved a brush fire but was quickly put out and no injuries were reported.
