Beckley, WV (WOAY)- A Former Raleigh County School District employee is facing embezzlement and fraud charges.
According to Beckley’s Chief of Detectives, Morgan Bragg, authorities charged 39-year-old Derek Keith Brooks with felony embezzlement and fraudulent schemes on Thursday, April 17.
The arrest followed an ongoing investigation by the Beckley Police Department.
Brooks allegedly took electronic devices from the school inventory and sold them on eBay over several years, earning hundreds of thousands of dollars at the county school district’s expense.
The Board of Education formerly employed Brooks as a network administrator.
