Former Church Deacon Facing Eight Counts of Sexual Assault and Abuse

OAK HILL— An Oak Hill Man, and former deacon at his church, has been charged with sexually assaulting and abusing multiple mentally handicapped victims.

Stanley Ira Stover faces four counts of sexual abuse in the second degree and four counts of sexual assault in the third degree, both of which relate to mentally handicapped or mentally incompetent victims.

Officer Clemins with the Oak Hill Police Department tells us the investigation started on April 13, but investigators soon learned this had been going on since October of 2015. They also learned there had been more than one victim, one of whom he met at his church.

Stover was arraigned on Tuesday and bond was set at $100,000.
