Forget about doing 80 mph on WV highways

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) — The Senate Transportation Committee pumped the brakes on a bill that would have raised  the speed limit to 80 mph on some interstates and four-lane limited access highways.

It failed to act on the measure, which essentially kills it for the time being.

Most of the highways that would have been affected are either posted at 65 or 70 mph.

The DOH said changing to 80 mph would have cost about $175,000 for new signs and other requirements.
