Following a foggy night, the next two days will be warmer than average.
Showers are expected tonight and then again Wednesday afternoon. A few of the showers on Wednesday afternoon will be rather gusty (25-35 mph). Few flurries will follow Thursday with snow late Friday and early Saturday. Less than 1″ of snow accumulation is expected. We will transition to a milder trend for Christmas Day.
Christmas Break Weather Outlook: In The East, only the Great Lakes, Green and White Mountains, Adirondacks and highest Alleghenies peaks will see a White Christmas. Temperatures will likely be in the upper 40s to low 50s across southern West Virginia with dry weather. A front or two may come through with a bit of rain late next week or just before New Year’s Day, but the air behind it will be relatively mild. We expect a surge of cold air to arrive between January 1-4 and likely at least snow showers after New Year’s Day with the onset of a more sustainable cold pattern. We tend to get our larger snowstorms when we are either deep into or coming out of a cold pattern.
