WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): While it is calm tonight, this weekend will be anything but. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Tomorrow’s system will start as ice in the morning, transitioning to rain later in the day. With the already saturated ground and new snowpack on top of everything else, we will see widespread flooding in the area. Standing water will be common in low-lying areas, roads may be flooded, and creeks, streams, and rivers will swell and overflow. Sunday will continue the rainy conditions as well, which we won’t get out of until after Monday morning. Make sure to no wade or drive into flood waters during this event. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
Tuesday will be a cloudy day, but a very needed break from the rain. Temperatures will stay just above freezing before Wednesday when the next system blows through. Snow will come through the area Wednesday and Thursday, dropping 3-5″ of total snow with more in the mountains as of now. Friday will bring another clear day, but bitter cold conditions as the system leaves our area.
