Flood impacted counties eligible for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance benefits

West Virginia (WOAY)—The West Virginia Department of Human Services announces that residents of Mercer, McDowell, Mingo, and Wyoming counties impacted by the February floods are eligible for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits.

Applications are open March 17-21.

Benefits are available for residents who cannot access their checking and savings accounts, have unreimbursed disaster-related expenses or have experienced a decrease in income following severe flooding.

Applicants should bring a photo ID, residence and/or employment documentation, proof of income since February 5, verification of checking and savings account assets, and confirmation of all disaster-related expenses.

Most benefits will be available within one day of applying.

Benefits are active for 90 days.
