Flash Flooding Causing Problems For Several Counties In Our Area

MONROE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Heavy rain is causing major problems across parts of our area; including flash flooding.

Flash Flood Warnings have been issued for Greenbrier and Monroe Counties and stay in effect until shortly after midnight.

RT 92 north of White Sulphur Springs is closed until DOH can assess the flooding and road damage. At least one car is stuck in flooded waters in the East Greenbrier Tunnels. Several mud have rock slides have been reported.

In Monroe County, several reports of cars submerged in water just south of James Monroe High School on 219, north of Lindslide. In Peterstown, at least six mudslides or landslides have occurred along u.s. 219 between Peterstown and Union and several ditches are also washed out along u.s. 219.

In Pocahontas County, Rt 92 South in the Rimel area is closed due to flash flooding.

Remember to never drive through flooded roads.  If flooding occurs, seek higher ground immediately.
