FIRST ON WOAY: Ansted Man Arrested For Setting Multiple Fires

ANSTED (WOAY)- An Ansted man has been arrested after setting two fires in two days.

Multiple fire departments responded to two structure fires on two consecutive nights in Ansted, both of which were under suspicious circumstances. On Friday, fire crews responded to an outbuilding fire, and on Saturday evening fire crews battled a residential fire at the same location.

Law enforcement investigators conducted an interview with the owner’s son. During the interview the suspect admitted to settings the fires. Devon Young, 22, from Ansted, was charged with 1st Degree Arson and was transported to Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment. No injuries were reported during these incidents.

“Offenders of arson incidents are frequently close to the victims ” says Sheriff Fridley, “In this case Young is an immediate family member, making it a very emotional situation for the family”.
