Festival Attracts Runners to Wine Drinkers

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): The 32nd annual Kirkwood Wine Festival was a success again this year from the outstanding weather to the number of participants.

Owners of the Kirkwood Winery, Frank and Elizabeth Dix, have been designating the third weekend in September each year for the wine festival. Besides the sweet wine produced at the winery, they wanted to draw in folks with the entertainment. Cody Clayton Eagle was performing when we were in attendance on Saturday.

Miss West Virginia even made a special appearance. We spoke with Karrington Childress and she said she wanted to meet the folks of southern West Virginia and enjoy the entertainment and all the festivities the wine festival had to offer.

The owners also put on a 5K each year before the event gets underway on Saturday. Our own Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill was the winner of this year’s race!
