Fayetteville cancels Heritage Festival and 4th of July Celebration.

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – Yesterday, it was announced that Fayetteville is canceling its Heritage Festival and 4th of July Celebration.

Last night in a town hall meeting elected leaders voted to cancel the Heritage Festival. The cancellation will include all 4th of July events planned for Friday the 3rd to Saturday the 4th. Fayetteville Town Superintendent Matt Diederich sheds light on the town’s decision.

“It was a very hard decision, we had a council meeting last night, we set that as our deadline that way we gave the vendors enough time,” said Diederich. “All the health concerns, all the unknowns and all the social distancing issues that we’re having, this would’ve brought so many people together.”

The Heritage Festival and 4th of July Celebration has been going since the 60s.
