Fayette County Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

HICO— A Fayette County woman has been arrested this evening on drug charges.

A Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy was conducting traffic enforcement this evening on U.S. Route 60 in Hico. The deputy initiated a stop on a vehicle at Rt. 60 and Stringtown Road for a minor traffic violation. During the investigation, a small quantity of methamphetamine was found on the female passenger. The deputy used his partner K-9 “Arras” to conduct a vehicle drug scan. The K-9 provided a positive indication, which led to a more thorough search of the vehicle. Paraphernalia and scales were located in the vehicle.

The female eventually admitted to having additional containers of methamphetamine concealed on her person. A female deputy sheriff assisted with the search of the subject, where the drugs were found concealed on her. Sonya S. Lester, 24 of Ansted, was arrested for the felony charges of Possession With Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony. She was transported to Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment.

Warrants will be obtained for the driver of the vehicle, Steven Pack, of Ansted, for the same charges. Pack is also believed to be on parole. Parole Services will be notified of this incident.
