Fayette County Sheriff's Department Presents A Check To Just For Kids

FAYETTEVILLE (WOAY)- A local child advocacy center was presented with a check today thanks to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and their beards!

All month long the Police Department participated in No Shave November as a fundraiser for the Just For Kids Center in Oak Hill. Today their efforts came to fruition as they presented a check for $750 dollars, plus a late donation of $25 dollars bringing their total donation to the organization to $775 dollars in total. Both Scott Miller with the Just For Kids and Sheriff Mike Fridley says this is a worthy cause that this money will be used for.

“50% of our funds come from the State or federal funds so we rely on the communities and our partners to help us make the difference. We don’t charge anything for the work we do so we have to have income from the community and this was a wonderful event” says, Scott Miller, Executive Director of Just For Kids Child Advocacy Center

“When you are dealing with children they get nervous they don’t want to talk to police officers, I don’t care if you are in uniform or if you are in plain clothes they still know that presents the way the people at Cac and just for kids are trained to be able to do these forensic interviews and stuff hands down they are the best around. With that organization, we are able to solve crimes that might not even be solvable because without them it wouldn’t work.” Fridley says.

Fridley says The Department will go back to their no beard policy beginning first thing tomorrow morning.
