Fayette County Man Dies After Being Hit By Train

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – One person has died after being hit by a train across the river of the New River Camp ground.

According to Fayette County Dispatch, they received a call at 5:35 p.m., Sunday evening after a person was hit by a train near the Gauley Bridge.

Sheriff Mike Fridley has confirmed, the male 42-Year-Old Joseph Wayne Underwood of Gauley Bridge was officially pronounced dead by the medical staff at Montgomery General Hospital.

Members of the Gauley Bridge Fire Department along with Jan-Care Ambulance responded and had to use a boat to cross the New River to reach the victim in an attempt to revive him, but the efforts were unsuccessful.┬áThe Fayette County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene.
