MONTGOMERY, WV (WOAY) – A Fayette County man is in jail after threatening and spitting on a cop.
On June 16, a call came in about a male who was asleep on the sidewalk in front of the D&J store in Montgomery. An officer went to the scene and found Walter Rodgers sleeping on the sidewalk. When the officer told him that he couldn’t sleep there, he turned and spit on the officer and proceeded to walk away. Rogers turned around and said he didn’t care about his badge.
Another officer from the Smithers Police Department arrested Rogers, and when he did, Rogers turned and said, “half of your family is already dead.”
The officer took that as a threat.
Rogers is charged with threats of terrorist acts, intimidation of police officers, malicious assault, and obstructing an officer. He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 30,000 dollar bond.
