FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – A Fayette County man is facing sexual assault allegations.
According to Sheriff Mike Fridley, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department obtained felony warrants on a Smithers man following an investigation alleging sexual assault. William Cole McCallister was arrested Thursday evening by Deputies for two counts of 1st Degree Sexual Assault and 1 count of Sexual Abuse by Parent/Guardian/Custodian.
According to a criminal complaint, the victim’s mother permitted the victim to visit the suspect, who lives in the same apartment complex, on Wednesday afternoon. After the visit, the victim reported the suspect engaged in inappropriate activity. Following conversations with Child Protection Services on Thursday, statements made by the victim and the mother corroborated each other, leading the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to pursue warrants against the suspect.
He will now await court proceedings.
