Fayette County Man Arrested For Threatening To Kill A Man For “Getting In The Way Of His Relationship”

MONTGOMERY, WV (WOAY) – A wanted Fayette County man has been arrested for breaking and entering and threatening to kill a man for getting in the way of his relationship with a woman.

On Thursday, June 14, 2018, Montgomery Police responded to a disturbance call and two separate breaking and entering complaints involving Maurice Ramon Coping.   Police observed Maurice Coping walking on the street and when they tried to arrest him, he fled on foot.  Police later captured him several blocks away in the backyard of a private residence.

Coping entered his residence without permission threatening to kill a male victim of a domestic battery case on June 11.  The victim was able to get Coping out of the door and locked it.  Coping then became angry and kicked the front door down.  Coping then brandished a knife and confronted the victim, telling the victim that he would kill him if he got in the way of his relationship with a woman.

Coping is charged with burglary, removal of property, brandishing a deadly weapon, trespassing, and fleeing for an officer.  He is being held in the Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000 dollar bond.
