Fayette County Man Arrested For Strangling His Wife

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – One man has been arrested and charged for domestic violence and strangulation.

Fayette County Deputies responded to a domestic call off of Deepwater Mountain Road in the Montgomery Heights area on Sunday, June 10, 2018.  When deputies arrived the wife told deputies that her husband Anthony Lanham, 42, of Smithers, had become angry with her and tried to start arguments. The victim asked Lanham to leave but he wouldn’t.   The victim states that Lanham picked her up by her throat until family members arrived to break it up. The victim said Lanham restricted her airways and she thought she was going to pass out.

Lanham told deputies that he was trying to leave and that the victim slapped her but deputies didn’t notice any marks on him.  He later admitted to pushing the victim and deputies noticed marks on her neck.

Lanham was arrested and charged with domestic violence and strangulation.  He is in the Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000 dollar bond.
