Fayette County Man Arrested for 20 Year Old Crime

NUTTALL– A Fayette County man has been arrested for alleged sexual offenses. Sheriff Mike Fridley and Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Larry Harrah released the following information concerning this arrest:

In early May of this year Sheriff’s Deputies received a complaint concerning allegations of sexual assault and sexual abuse. It was reported that these alleged crimes occurred nearly twenty years previously in the former Nuttall Middle School building. Following an investigation into these allegations, Sheriff’s Deputies filed a criminal complaint earlier this evening in the Fayette County Magistrate Court.

Victor Glen Whitt, age 57, of Hico was arrested and charged with 7 felony counts of Sexual Abuse by a Parent, Guardian, Custodian or Person in a Position of Trust and 6 felony counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault. He was arraigned in the Fayette County Magistrate Court and released on a $100,000.00 bond posted by the Perry Bonding Company.

According to the criminal complaint filed in connection with this matter, the victim was a pre-teen female child. The alleged sexual crimes are reported to have occurred nearly twenty years earlier in the late 1990s.

“All individuals charged with alleged criminal offenses are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty,” said Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Larry Harrah. “Assistant Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Elizabeth Campbell has been overseeing this investigation since the earliest stages,” he added. “The information developed during the preliminary investigation into these allegations indicates sufficient probable cause for criminal charges to be filed at this time,” said Sheriff Mike Fridley.

This incident remains under investigation by Sergeant T.N. Mooney and the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau. They were assisted in the early stages of this investigation by the Just For Kids, Inc. Child and Youth Advocacy Center.
