Fayette County Man Arrested After Shooting A Dog In The Chest

SCARBRO, WV (WOAY) – A Fayette County man has been arrested after shooting a dog. Sheriff Mike Fridley released the following information regarding this incident.

Fayette County deputies were dispatched to Stover Hollow Road in Scarbro on Sunday regarding a call of a dog that had been shot. Investigation shows that a subject shot a dog that was on his front porch. Further findings show that the homeowner and his pets were inside his home and not accessible by the outside dog. The homeowner shot this dog in the chest with a handgun through a window, and the dog ran off. The Deputies located the owner of the dog, and they together located it, which was still alive. The Deputy noted that the dog was friendly and approachable, even considering its injuries.

The Deputy managed to contact a veterinarian willing to come out on Sunday to treat the wounded dog. Lloyd W. Gill was arrested and charged with Animal Cruelty and Shooting Within 500 Feet of a Dwelling. He was released on a $2,500 bond set by the Fayette County Magistrate’s Office. The condition of the dog is unknown at this time.
