Fayette County, WV(WOAY)- A Pax man is facing a string of felony charges after allegedly shooting a dog inside his home, while children were present.
It happened Saturday night.
Deputies responded to reports of a possibly intoxicated man who had fired a gun, hitting the family dog.
When officers arrived, they found the suspect, the injured animal, and a firearm at the scene.
Following their investigation, Ronnie A. McGinnis, was arrested.
He’s now facing multiple charges, including wanton endangerment, two counts of child neglect creating risk of serious injury or death, and two misdemeanors: animal cruelty and shooting within 500 feet of a dwelling.
The case is still under investigation, but the dog, named Rover, continues to fight for his life.
The Fayette County Humane Society says the bullet shattered his entire leg.
He’s undergone emergency treatment and now needs extensive, round-the-clock care. His recovery costs are estimated at up to $3,700.
