ANSTEAD, WV (NEWS RELEASE) – The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is initiating a Community Outreach effort starting tomorrow and would like to invite members of the public to attend and participate. Sheriff Mike Fridley released the following information concerning this outreach effort:
Sheriff Mike Fridley and several of his Deputies will be serving free hotdogs to the community between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm tomorrow, July 13, 2017 at the gazebo in Ansted across from the Shell station. This is the inaugural “Deputies and Dogs” event that the Sheriff’s Office will be hosting throughout the summer. Members of the public are invited to stop by for free hotdogs and meet the Sheriff and his Deputies. This is an opportunity for citizens to express any concerns they may have, provide information about criminal activity in their communities or just socialize with their local law enforcement officers.
“Given the nation-wide trend of an increasing number of violent assaults on law enforcement officers, I feel that it is important for the Sheriff’s Office to reach out and build and strengthen ties with the communities we serve,” said Sheriff Fridley. This initial outreach effort was made possible through the donation of hotdog wieners by the Piggly Wiggly store and the donation of buns, chili, slaw and other condiments by several individuals. “This is our first “Deputies and Dogs” event, but it won’t be the last,” said Sheriff Fridley. “We plan on doing events like this every other week or so in communities throughout Fayette County.”
