Epling Stadium preparing for summer baseball leagues

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – While the 2020 Prospect League season was canceled in late May, there are plans in place to hold baseball games throughout the summer at Epling Stadium in Beckley.

WV Miners general manager Tim Epling is putting together leagues for both middle school and high school teams to be able to play starting later this month, as their 2020 seasons were also canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. High school games are scheduled to start June 27.

Epling says more than 10 area high school teams are set to take part, representing multiple area counties. He says it’s a unique opportunity both for the seniors who have graduated high school to play before beginning college, as well as for those who will be freshmen in the coming school year.
