FAYETTE COUNTY., WV (WOAY) – An expansion has been made in the West Virginia Apprenticeship Program.
The West Virginia Development Office teamed up with several local institutions along with workforce WV, to begin a new registered apprenticeship program.
Local employers attended the Fayette Institute of Technology to hear first hand how apprenticeships will impact the state.
“Apprenticeship In Motion” will give workers a chance to learn a combination of on the job training along with classroom instruction.
Employers are hopeful this new program will help expand the job market in the mountain state.
“Right now we’re concentrating on specific industries we need to open that up to more employers by bringing these apprenticeship programs on-board. They’ll be attracted to West Virginia and at that point we’ll open up our economy, “Allegheny Wood Rep. John Di Lorenzo said.
AIM is open to all ages. For more information about your local apprenticeships contact the U.S. Dept. of Labor.
