The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is offering assistance for eligible residents for heating expenses this year.
These payments were made possible by a $250,000 donation that resulted from a class action settlement.
The Register Herald reports that residents who applied for and received a payment from the “low income energy assistance program” this past winter will receive an automatic $71 dollars to help with propane heating expenses.
About 3,500 eligible families will receive these payments.
All payments are expected to be issued by the end of this month.
