Early Voting Begins for Fayette County School Levy

FAYETTE COUNTY– Early voting began on Friday for the Fayette County School’s excess levy.

If it is passed, the levy will be extended for another five years, from July 2019 to June 2023. This is not a new levy, just a renewal of an already existing one. The levy would continue to take a portion of Fayette County resident’s taxes to be used for a variety of things including textbooks, meals, salaries for teachers, student security and much more. In total around $10 million of funds are provided to the schools each year.

  • Textbooks- $823,000
  • Safety and Security- $160,000
  • Student Admission-Athletic Events- $72,000
  • Student National & State Competition- $25,000
  • Universal Feeding- $650,000
  • Farm2School Project- $8,000
  • Playground Equipment- $20,000
  • Instructional Support- $225,000
  • Library- $26,500
  • Special Education- $40,000
  • Extension Office- $30,000
  • Athletic Bus Trips- $150,000
  • Health Services- $30,000
  • Athletics & Extracurricular- $85,000
  • Music- $60,000
  • Art- $25,000
  • Home Economics- $4,500
  • Industrial Arts and Career Tech. Ed. Support- $8,000
  • Business Education- $13,000
  • Physical Education- $25,000
  • Science & Math Support- $88,000
  • Reading Support- $100,000
  • Technical Curriculum Support- $990,000
  • Bus Replacement- $20,000
  • Maintenance/Capital Improvement- $1,200,000
  • Preschool- $78,245
  • Salaries Professional- $2,358,000
  • Salaries Service- $1,177,000
  • Dental/Vision- $780,000

Early voting will continue Monday through Friday from 8AM to 4PM and Saturdays from 9AM to 5PM through January 17. Election day is is January 20.
