WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The fall preview is about to end as a prolific high-pressure ridge baking the nation’s midsection descends on the East Coast next week.
High temperatures in jeopardy of falling by the wayside Wednesday, August 28 include 88 degrees at the Beckley Raleigh County Airport and 89 degrees in Bluefield. The next threat for rain is Tuesday and Wednesday but the real estate covered by any showers or storms would be less than 20% of our region. The drought will continue to intensify and water restrictions are possible by the end of next week in parts of the state. Thursday into the Labor Day weekend will offer a much higher threat for rain and cooler temperatures. Nonetheless, drought will continue even through early September.
