Drier conditions today, pleasant temperatures stick around

After several days of soggy conditions, we’re finally catching a break here in Southern West Virginia. The large weather system responsible for the recent stretch of daily rain and storms is beginning to lift north, allowing drier air to settle into our region today.

While a few spotty showers can’t be ruled out—especially in northern counties—most of us will stay dry through the day. Some communities are waking up to patchy fog this morning, but it’s expected to mix out by mid-morning, giving way to brighter skies.

Rain chances will linger in the forecast over the next couple of days, though they’re much lower than what we’ve seen recently. Tomorrow’s showers will mainly target the mountain counties, while the rest of the area enjoys a calm and comfortable stretch.

Thursday brings our next best shot at widespread rain before things dry out again heading into Friday and the weekend. Temperatures will stay near or slightly below average for this time of year, making for some pleasant afternoons. Highs will range in the mid 60s to 70s each day this week.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be a lovely week across Southern West Virginia—just the kind of weather many of us have been waiting for.
