Donald Trump Jr. Calls For West Virginia Voters To “Reject Blankenship” In Tweet

CHARLESTON, WV (WCHS, BY: JARROD CLAY)-  In a pair of tweets Thursday night, Donald Trump Jr. said he is asking West Virginians to “make a wise decision and reject Blankenship” in next week’s primary election.

Former Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship is one of six Republicans running for U.S. Senate, a seat that is currently held by Democrat Joe Manchin.

Trump Jr. also said in the tweet, “No more fumbles like Alabama,” referencing Doug Jones’ victory over Roy Moore in a special election in Alabama in December.

Trump Jr.’s tweeted a Washington Examiner report that a Democratic political action committee is spending money against Rep. Evan Jenkins in an effort to support Blankenship.

Jenkins released the following statement following Trump Jr.’s tweets:
“I appreciate Donald Trump, Jr. lending his voice to help combat the lies from the anti-Trump Democrat Super PAC spending millions to defeat our campaign. Liberals Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are attacking me because they know I’m the only candidate in this race who can beat Joe Manchin, and the only candidate who has supported Donald Trump since day one. West Virginians will see through the Pelosi/Schumer scheme to deceive them.”
