GOODLETTSVILLE, TN (WOAY) – Dollar General is closing 96 stores around the country.
According to its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2024 report, the move comes after a review of store performance. The company is also closing 45 pOpshelf stores and converting six pOpshelf stores to Dollar General stores.
The review also took into account expected future performance and operating conditions.
The company has not disclosed what stores are expected to close.
“As we look to build on the substantial progress we made on our Back to Basics work in fiscal 2024, we believe this review was appropriate to further strengthen the foundation of our business,” Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s chief executive officer, SAID. “While the number of closings represents less than one percent of our overall store base, we believe this decision better positions us to serve our customers and communities.”
A new Dollar General store opened in Fayetteville on Lively Street this week.
