Deputies Identify Man Found Near Clear Fork River In Wyoming County

WYOMING COUNTY (WOAY) – The man found by Deputies Saturday near Sun Hill has been identified.

Wyoming County Deputies tell WOAY that the victim is Dennis Lane. Lane was found by the Clear Fork River, not in it.  His car was found wrecked last Sunday and had been missing.

Deputies say he likely died due to cold temperatures and that his body has been sent to Charleston for an autopsy.

UPDATE: FIRST ON WOAY – A family member tells WOAY that the body found beside the Clear Fork River earlier today is Dennis Lane. Wyoming County Deputies have not released the name officially and are still investigating the scene.


SUN HILL, WV (WOAY) – A mans body has been found near the Clear Fork River of the Sun Hill area of Wyoming County in West Virginia.

Cheif Deputy Jimmy White tells WOAY that they found the body at around 4 pm Saturday afternoon beside the river. The body was not found in the river as other media outlets report.

The cause of death was likely due to the cold weather; however, the body is being sent to Charleston for an autopsy.

This is an ongoing investigation and further details will be released after the family is notified and the exact cause of death is released.
