Deer Season Is Great For Southern West Virginia’s Economy

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Buck season is not only great for family traditions but it is also great for the economy.

West Virginia is one of the most popular spots to go hunting. There is a lot of land that is open to the public to go hunting.  Lots of people are coming in from the surrounding states to go hunting in southern West Virginia. Here’s why:

“We have four counties in West Virginia that are bow only. Two of those are in our nine-county region which is Wyoming County and McDowell County.  In those two they are popular with bow hunter or hunter general because of the big bucks,” said, Lisa Strader, Interim Director of Visit West Virginia.

This is also the first deer hunting season where you are allowed to hunt on Sundays
