Dedication ceremony held to honor Camp Prince Army Station marker

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A dedication ceremony was held for an official state highway marker commemorating the Camp Prince Army Station in Beckley.

The ceremony was at the New River access ramp at the foot of Batoff Mountain. Officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, West Virginia Army National Guard, National Park Service and Raleigh County Historical Society delivered remarks.

“Camp Prince and all the things that they did with testing, army equipment and bridges. We don’t ever need to forget that, at the smallest level community we don’t want anyone to lost sight because we want to continue the lineage,” said Brigade Engineer Commander Robert Linage.

The Camp Prince Marker is located 7 miles from the Beckley By-Pass.
