Deadline to apply for deputy position approaches

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The deadline to apply to be a Fayette County deputy is quickly approaching.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office has three openings for deputies after the County Commission approved two new positions. The deadline to apply is next Wednesday.

Sheriff Mike Fridley wants to see applicants involved in the community.

“You’ve got to have motivated people,” said Sheriff Fridley. “I want somebody that wants to be involved in the community. [Myself] and some of my deputies are coaches for little league, high school and middle schools. [We want] someone with a good head on their shoulders because this job is hard and it is challenging.”

Applicants must return applications to the county clerk’s office by the end of the business day on Sept. 16. The written exam is Sept. 23.
