Day care center in deep cleaning after parent tests positive

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Local day care parents express concerns after a child’s mother tests positive for coronavirus.

Owner and director of Bullfrogs and Butterflies Becky Sparks says her staff has cleaned the areas the student used before being pulled from the program. Staff will use the weekend to clean and sanitize the rest of the facility as well.

“What did we do first? We prayed,” said Sparks. “I immediately went to all the caregivers and I told them that we had the case and I said we’re going to have to deep clean, so start picking up some of the toys and taking them and cleaning them.”

Sparks says the mother is asymptomatic. After her recovery, her children must be tested before returning to class. If the child tests positive, parents will be notified.
