BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Greater Beckley boys basketball is returning to the Class A state tournament after winning 80-64 over defending state champion Webster County on Wednesday night.
The Crusaders established momentum in the second quarter to lead 33-19 at halftime, but Webster County would trim the deficit to single digits in the third. However, the Crusaders kept the lead thanks to 18 points from Elijah Edwards, and 16 each from Thad Jordan and Isaiah Hairston. Rye Gadd led Webster County with 31 points.
Greater Beckley is the #3 seed in the state tournament and will play Pendleton County at 9:30 AM on Thursday, March 19.
Also on Wednesday, Mount View lost 50-34 at Charleston Catholic in regionals. Tony Bailey and Brendon Rotenberry had six points each for the Golden Knights.
