Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Game 2 of the Class A Region 3 championship series has been suspended due to darkness, and will resume Wednesday. Greater Beckley Christian and Charleston Catholic were tied 9-9 in the ninth inning.
The Irish opened the scoring in the first inning on a three-run home run, before the Crusaders responded with four runs in the third. The teams would then trade the lead going into extra innings.
The regional games featuring James Monroe, Independence, and Greenbrier East were all moved to Wednesday because of the weather. Game 2 of the Mavericks-Patriots series will start at 6:00 in Coal City, with the Mavericks leading the series 1-0. Greenbrier East’s series opener at St. Albans is scheduled to start at 6:30.
