FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – A Kanawha County couple faces child neglect allegations after allegedly driving while intoxicated with three children in the vehicle.
Saturday evening, dispatchers received a call about a vehicle driving erratically along Route 19. A Fayetteville police officer pulled the driver over. Inside were two adults and three children.
Two drug recognition experts (DREs) from the sheriff’s office also responded to conduct sobriety evaluations. Authorities say the driver had alcohol and marijuana in his system. His blood alcohol content was more than double the legal limit. The woman also showed signs of impairment.
Howard Crouch, 50, of Charleston was arrested and charged with three counts of gross child neglect creating risk of injury, DUI with minors in the vehicle and driving under the influence.
Angela Stamper, 48, of St. Albans was also arrested and charged with three counts of gross child neglect and permitting DUI.
The children involved were taken by CPS and released to family members. Crouch and Stamper now await court proceedings.
