Counties prepare for future by ordering more PPE

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – With election day coming up soon and potential for a second wave of coronavirus later in the year, counties are preparing by bulk ordering more supplies.

Raleigh County for instance typically gets their PPE from state suppliers, but has instead allocated some of their budget to purchase directly from manufacturers.

Raleigh Commission President Dave Tolliver says it was to have a more secure source of PPE.

“You gotta understand we have 220 employees, and it takes a lot of masks, gloves and so forth. So instead of relying on someone else to get these supplies for us we just ordered them directly,” Tolliver said.

The county moved around more than $5,000 in their budget to get the funds and purchase more PPE.
