Confession Made About Woman Set On Fire by Fiancé

BECKLEY,WV (WOAY)- Tragedy struck a families Beckley home last September when, Dwayne Michael Lane set fire to his then fiancé Belinda Cox.

According to the prosecution team Lane admitted to setting Cox on fire due to a dispute, over Cox use of makeup.

Although Cox was rushed to an Emergency Room she later died.

“We spoke in court today, that upon autopsy the medical examiner determined that the cause of death resulted from being set on fire and burned,” adds Prosecution Attorney Kristen Keller.

According to Keller, last week the Grand Jury indicted Lane charging him with First degree murder in addition to, two counts of gross child neglect creating risk of serious bodily injury and domestic battery. If Lane is convicted he faces up to life in prison.

This morning another hearing took place, and the prosecution team told Newswatch, that Lanes attorneys made a motion for Judge Robert Burnside to grant Lane bond.

Keller says, “I objected to any bond and Judge Burnside agreed with the prosecution team and denied him bond so Mr. Lane will stay incarcerated until and through the trial.”

Currently Lane is at Southern Regional Jail, and will be appearing next week in court to figure out when his trial will begin.
