Concord, WVU Tech Play Preseason Scrimmage

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – WVU Tech women’s soccer hosted Concord Monday night for a preseason scrimmage, with both teams looking to build positive habits ahead of their season openers next week. The Lady Lions and Lady Golden Bears played to a 1-1 draw Monday.

Hear from both head coaches, Stephanie Kot and Luke Duffy, on the advantages of preseason scrimmages and how each team is approaching the final practices before their first games of 2018.

WVU Tech is coming off a 12-6-1 season, where they won the River States Conference regular season. They open their season Labor Day weekend with two games in North Carolina, with their first conference game scheduled for September 22 against Indiana University East; the first home game is September 16 against West Virginia Wesleyan.

Concord was picked last week to finish second in the MEC South Division, having gone 10-8-1 in 2017. The Lady Lions open this season August 30 at King University, with their first home game September 2 against Felician. Conference play begins September 9 at Shepherd, with the top three from each division advancing to the MEC Tournament.

Both men’s teams will play Tuesday in Beckley.
