ATHENS, WV (WOAY)- Concord University theatre students have directed and will be presenting one-act plays on Oct. 2-3.
The performances start at 7 p.m. both nights in the H.C. Paul Theatre located in the Alexander Fine Arts Center on Concord’s Athens campus. The one-act plays are each 10 minutes long and will be a potluck of topics which will include love, loss, and murder.
The performances are an assignment for Karen Vuranch’s Fundamentals of Directing Class. Eight theatre students will each direct their own one-act plays with the help of other Concord students who will serve as the cast and production teams. Directors include: Elisha Fraley, Laya Gilpin, Cameron White, Brianna Duckworth, Hannah Gates, Caleb Zopp, Tiffany Dillon and Chris Cohenour.
“The fact that Concord allows us to direct before we try it as a profession, makes it alone worthwhile. Being thrown head first in the fire is a stressful, yet amazing experience,” stated Chris Cohenour. “I am grateful we can have the chance. It will be valuable going forward for all us.”
The performances are free and open to the general public. Donations will be accepted for Concord University Theatre. For more information about the performances contact Karen Vuranch at firstname.lastname@example.org or 304-384-5259.
