Commission Denies Mabscott Annexation

Cheers filled a Raleigh County Courtroom on Tuesday night multiple times as citizens approached a podium one at a time declaring why they were opposed to a Mabscott annexation.
At the end of the meeting, the Raleigh County Commission denied Mabscott’s request.
Not every citizen in the crowd was against the annexation though.
“We have seen over the last 20 years a lot of bad accidents and that is all I am asking, they claim there is a lot of police officers but there’s not. The Sheriff Department is overwhelmed,” said local bus driver Ron Martin.
When all of the discussions were done, President Tolliver and the other members of the Commission had to do what they felt was right for the people.
“We felt the best interest of the citizens there was to deny the application,” said Tolliver.
The fight for these citizens may be over for now but Mabscott can appeal this decision to the Circuit Court.
