Cold Blast Comes to Abrupt Halt, Then One Final Cool Blast

Wind chills will stay in the single digits and teens until 10 a.m. Saturday when temperatures start to rebound.

A few flurries are expected through Friday, with intermittent sunshine. Wind chills will stay in the single digits and teens until Saturday when temperatures warm to the upper 30s. Sunday will be fabulous with warmer temperatures, despite the mid-level clouds. About 0.50″ of rain is expected Sunday and Monday, with dense fog above 3,000 feet Monday thanks to advection fog (warm air moving over a cold ground). Tuesday will be warm with showers late and then one final cold blast with light snow accumulation Wednesday and colder weather on Thursday.

The upcoming pattern favors sustainable warming through early January followed by another cold blast.

The pattern this month will help initiate the freeze/thaw cycle and develop potholes early in the season.
