BECKLEY, WV (WOAY)— Hundreds of people of all ages lined the streets of downtown Beckley Saturday for the City of Beckley’s Annual Christmas Parade.
“It’s just fun hearing the bands and seeing all the kids enjoying themselves and the community coming together. There are so many different groups participants in the parade this year. It was huge and we just appreciate the community so much,” said Jill Moorefield, Director of Beckley Events.
Floats, bands and classic cars were some of the highlights filling Main Street showcasing this year’s theme, “Christmas Spirit, Sparkle, and Shine” in hopes of winning some cash prizes.
Families, friends and the community came out to see the various floats and celebrate the holiday on this beautiful day in Beckley.
Float by float, children cheered, caught candy and watched in awe as they awaited the arrival of Santa Claus.
Bree Cummings, Julia Harvey and Audrey who participated in the parade explain their favorite parts,
“Santa…. My favorite part was making people smile and seeing the smiles everybody had on their faces.”
WOAY’s very own Rachel Ayers and Chief Meteorologist Tyler Barker participated in this year’s parade officially kicking off the holiday season here in Southern West Virginia!
