ATHENS, WV (WOAY)- This Saturday, Concord University will hold its annual Celebrate Concord event. This is a great event to celebrate all of the things happening at the university.
The event will start at 10 am with their day of service event and continue all day, ending with a pickleball tournament. This is a fun opportunity for all students, faculty, and alumni to come together and connect.
They are especially proud of their Day of Service event, where they do community projects around Athens. They do this to honor their mission, ‘come to learn, go to serve.’
“Our day of service is important to the institution because it really gives us the opportunity to bring all of our different constituents together. You know, having our alums work alongside our students on service projects shows our students this is what being an alumnus means,” explained Blake Farmer, the Director Of Alumni and Donor Relations at Concord University. “It means giving back to the institution and being an active member of the community and of your alma mater. So it’s a great opportunity for us to participate in service projects that are really going to be beneficial to the institution, but also strengthen our relationships that we have across all of our different constituent bases.”
