Candidates file again for Raleigh County Magistrate Division 2 race

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Today was the last day for candidates to file for the Raleigh County Magistrate Division 2 race.

In June, incumbent Steve Massie won the election against challenger Stephanie French, as well as two write-in candidates. However, Massie claimed he wouldn’t take the position if he won re-election. Raleigh County Circuit Court Chief Judge Andrew Dimlich made the decision to assign Pat Lamp to the seat as an interim magistrate until a new election could be held this November.

Stephanie French has filed to be on the ballot again for November. She says the last election was a grueling experience, but she’s prepared to go through that process again.

“The last election process was very stressful. I was bullied, I was harassed, there were a lot of lies circulating and I’m more than likely going to have to go through that again. I think I ran a good, fair, clean, honest race the first time around and I’m hoping that my 6,805 voters will stick with me,” French said.

The election for Raleigh County Magistrate Division 2 will take place for a second time in November.
