Brush Fires Ignite; Pattern Supports Increased Drought & Brush Fire Risks

Several brush fires have developed in our region today, including the Beury Mountain Fire in the New River Gorge National Park. At least two acres have burned in the unnamed brush fire adjacent to the Beury Mountain Fire.

WEATHER OUTLOOK: The extreme drought combined with low relative humidity, a breezy wind and dry weather will keep the brush fire risk elevated through the weekend. The next threat for a few showers is next week on Wednesday from a Carolina low pressure developing on the heels of dissipating Francine.
