MORGANTOWN, WV (Neal Brown video conference courtesy WVU Athletics) – Hear from WVU football head coach Neal Brown as he provides an update on the Mountaineers.
Brown says he is hopeful that the 2020 season will go on as scheduled, with the opening weekend for most teams slated for September 5. Pending changes, West Virginia will be in Atlanta that weekend to play Florida State, the third time in four seasons that the Mountaineers will open the year with a neutral-site game.
The second-year head coach is quick to praise the Big 12 Conference for a more proactive approach to the changing circumstances compared to other leagues, and notes the routine for his players hasn’t changed much from when the pandemic first began.
Brown also congratulated Kenny Robinson and Colton McKivitz on being selected in the NFL Draft, while four others (Keith Washington, Josh Norwood, George Campbell, Hakeem Bailey) signed free agent contracts over the weekend.
